Paul Allen takes the Giving Pledge

Another $6+ billion is making its way into the philanthropic community. Today is a good day.

Earlier this week, Sean Stannard-Stockton posted an interesting analysis on his blog, Tactical Philanthropy, of the potential impact and trickle-down effect the Giving Pledge could have on every-day donors. He includes a link to an equally fascinating post on the Social Entrepreneurship blog at Change.org by Ryan Allis regarding how this increase in philanthropic resources can redirect capital flows within the financial system to focus on impact and social investments.

  1. I would feel a lot better about the Buffett-Gates philanthropic gifts if they were made here in the US to source of their wealth, rather than focused on Africa. Maybe that’s just me being provincial.
