Is all press good press?

A little negative press in the WSJ this morning for charities. Turf wars and legal battles, once the mainstay of the corporate community, are now entering the charitable community. Is a once collaborative environment now becoming closed? How will donors feel about charities, such as Komen, that very offensively defend their “space” promoting and finding a cure? Will the law of unintended consequences lead donors to shun Komen believing their behavior itself is uncharitable? The rational for protecting a “brand” is understandable. Yet for nonprofits, is protecting the brand more important that humbly pursuing a much-needed cure?
